Datel Lite Blue Tool
The Datel Lite Blue Tool is a smart battery that allows access to service mode on the PSP 3000 hardware. It replaces the earlier “pandora” battery, which was used to unbrick and install custom firmware on the PSP. Custom firmware allows users to run PSP roms and backups of UMD games. Since the PSP 3000 officially launched in September, hackers have been unable to install custom firmware on the device. In fact, even certain versions of the PSP 2000 have proven impossible to hack. The homebrew community is obviously unhappy about this new hardware lock-out, but Sony is undoubtedly pleased that they have managed to temporarily stop piracy on their beloved PSP handheld.
Enter the Datel Lite Blue Tool. This new battery promises to allow hackers back in to the encrypted kernel of the PSP 3000. While it has not yet officially launched, the light blue battery will evidently defeat any encryption that Sony has implemented to prevent homebrew activities. British company Datel used microscopic analysis of the PSP 3000 circuit board to create their own battery.
Datel is most widely known for its range of third-party peripherals and controllers. It also manufactures the “Action Replay” cheat device used on various consoles. Datel sold service tool batteries for earlier models of the PSP as well, so there doesn’t seem to be any legal recourse for Sony to prevent them from also hacking the PSP 3000.
THe company originally said the service battery would be ready in November, but now it appears that you won’t be able to buy the blue tool until mid-January 2009 at the earliest. When the Lite Blue Tool officially launches this winter, you will be able to buy it for $39.99 USD. Pre-Order from Amazon Here:

Man, that sucks that the blue tool has been delayed. Hopefully when it comes out it really works. I could see Sony doing something sneaky like a last-minute firmware update that would defeat this new battery. To all you peeps out there, DON’T Upgrade! just in case Sony slaps te homebrewers again, you will be crying when we are all able to downgrade our firmware with the service battery.

Good news folks: Yes we will be selling the Datel Lite Blue tool here, once it is released.
Right now the product is on hold because of legal action from Sony. But as soon as that is cleared up, we will order stock from Datel.
I would advise everyone to check back in a few weeks. (End of March).

April 6th, 2009 at 9:11 am
hi,
hmm kris i have a question,
well i saw that thing in amazon and it leaded me here in the end, so i want to ask u, is this a real service battry and is this gonna mod the psp3000 without any problem?
cause what i heared from the yahoo guy he sayed”If you are after the lite blue for a PSP3000 then save your money for a while yet. Even with the lite blue you cannot load modded firmware to a PSP3000, the PSP3000 CPU runs a pre-IPL security check which currently will stop the PSP from loading the modded firmware. Effectively it will put the PSP in recovery mode, but as of this moment in time no-one can make a flash card to load the modded firmware onto the psp in order to take advantage of it.”
and again can u make sure that this is the right tool
cause the name is “NEW Datel PSP Max Power Digital- Universal Mode Battery”
not
NEW Datel PSP Blue Tool ?
thanks.
