Your world ends April 22nd
The World Ends with You, Square-Enix’s latest innovation in RPG’s, hits store shelves across North America on April 22nd. This quirky action-RPG was met with critical praise late last year in Japan, and is looking to achieve the same success in the western market… despite its apparent eastern influence. Square-Enix is already banking on this title to become a hit, going so far as to call the game “revolutionary”.
The World Ends with You is created by the same people who brought you the Final Fantasy franchise (even Tetsuya Nomura, who is currently working on Final Fantasy XIII) and the Kingdom Hearts franchise. Undoubtedly, one look at the game’s unique art style could probably tell you that. The story involves a fifteen year old boy who wakes up in a shopping district of a local Japanese mall only to receive a disturbing text message saying that he will cease to exist unless he completes a certain mission. You’ll find yourself then battling through the streets of Tokyo as you control two characters at once and unleash powerful attacks using your stylus and even use of the microphone. With colorful, artistic graphics and a modern, stylistic soundtrack you’ll be hard pressed to find a game even remotely similar to this unique new IP.
The World Ends with You is one of many fantastic new Square-Enix games expected to release this year, including the likes of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Ring of Fates, Final Fantasy IV, and the epic Dragon Quest IX. Anticipate a full review of the game when it hits store shelves on April 22nd.
