Syphon Filter: Combat Ops map editor revealed in video
Here is some news that might interest PSP-owning fans of the Syphon Filter series. One of the new downloadable games currently available on the Playstation Store is Syphon Filter: Combat Ops, an add-on to last year’s Logan’s Shadow. This download-only title features some rich new multiplayer modes, including an interactive map editor. Don’t worry if you haven’t got Logan’s Shadow, the original game is not required in order to purchase this one. Much like Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops +, this title does not appear to offer much in the way of new single-player missions, and instead focuses purely on multiplayer competition, allowing up to 8 players to go head to head over an infrastructure wifi connection. The real meat of this game is the map editor, which allows designers to tweak just about every aspect of a level, right down to the description that players can read before entering a match.
Since Combat Ops features pretty much the same maps, modes and gameplay tweaks already contained in Logan’s Shadow, the game may not be a worthwhile investment for everybody. On the other hand, if you missed out on last year’s release, or you are just really itching to try your hand at designing your own multiplayer maps, then this might be $9.99 well spent.
