PSP Keyboard Announced

[Editor's note: Hello there, I am new writer Chris Nuzzo, it's so nice to meet you all. I look forward to starting many flame wars and withstanding strikes at my character on a daily basis from you all. But seriously folks, I'm obviously not on strike right now so feel free to take me only as a partially-serious writer. I am here to give you news on the PSP, analyze the portable gaming market, and review with daunting criticism the love children of game developers all over the world. I'm very happy to be a part of this site and can't wait to watch it grow. Now, onto work...]

Well for those of you who enjoy using your PSP as much as I do to surf the web at school and in the bathroom (no further description required) there is a godsend on the way brothers and possibly a couple sisters. Logic 3 has finally announced that their PSP keyboard will be ready by next year sometime.

Logic 3 is responsible for several psp enhancements and I have all the faith in the world they will come through on their word to make this peripheral a reality. Now you might say “Hey Chris. Why should I give two cents about a keyboard for the PSP? I mean I have this new fangled device called a computer, it does just fine surfing the web.” To which my response would be: “Well friend, Sony didn’t see fit to retrofit their device with a keyboard because they didn’t see how popular it would become for purposes other than gaming. Now if you also would like to come out of the cave you live in you can join us here in the sunlight we call homebrew. Out here you can do strange things like check your e-mail from the comfort of your economics class, talk on Aim while your boss admonishes your latest report in the other office, or post on your gaming blog while down at the pub.”

Also, if this add-on is a success you can even expect to see games support it. How awesome would it be to play a game from your psp that allows you to quickly communicate with someone across the world? How about Leisure Suit Larry for PSP? Making your PSP into a gadget that rivals the Sidekick? The wonders extend as far as you can imagine. Of course with Sony’s New Skype Technology coming soon could this idea have come too late? I personally feel like talking to people I don’t know online is a lot like that uncomfortable first phone call to a girl you met solely through electronic means, but hey to each their own. I know I’ll be first in line (or online) to buy/order this 47 key gem when it hits sometime soon. Also keep in mind that the pictured version is just a prototype. The finished product should also serve as a screen guard of sorts and a small vegetable chopping board (reverse side only).

[Editors note: Well, this concludes my first ever PVG post. See you guys in the morning, I'm gonna go beat Jean D'Arc!]

When the PSP first came out, I dreamed about using it in class to take notes. Especally since Sony was advertising that pimp transparent touch keyboard with it (sadly, just a mock-up).

Since then I have learned to adapt to pen and paper for note-taking and I am not sure that a keyboard would add all that much functionality for me.
