More RPG love coming to the PSP: Square reveals Star Ocean remakes

The Star Ocean series is much beloved by RPG fans around the world, despite the fact that the first title for the Super Famicom never made it outside of Japan (the fact that there is an unofficial fan translation proves the popularity of the series). The games are known for their unique battle system, which gives players total freedom of movement during combat. Today, Square announced their intention to bring both the original Star Ocean and its sequel The Second Story to the PSP in the form of updated remakes. These new games will be titled The first Departure and the Second Evolution, respectively. Since the first game is based on the the original Super Famicom title, the remake will feature updated graphics (shown below). The second game, which originally appeared for the Playstation 1, will apparently feature new characters and story elements, as well as fully-voiced dialogue and anime cutscenes. It seems as if RPG fans suddenly have a lot to look forward to on the PSP!
