Final Fantasy IV DS confirmed, first screens emerge
Yesterday we reported the rumor that Square Enix was secretly working on a follow-up to last year’s Final Fantasy III remake on the DS. Today the rumor has been confirmed by Japanese magazine Shonen Jump. Scans of the short preview have been popping up all over the net as fanboys cut and paste with abandon. We got our view of the scans over at Go Nintendo, and we have reproduced some of the screenshots for your convenience below. While the game is reported to use the same graphics engine as Final Fantasy III, it looks as though the designers have taken a slightly different (less chibi) approach to the art in this game. It could just be the grainy quality of the scans, but the tone looks darker and characters look more brooding than their kawaii conterparts in FFIII. The hype surrounding this game is obviously very high, and we can’t wait to see more details on the title when Square Enix throw their annnual bash this weekend.

Awesome; I’ll add this to my wishlist now. This sort of increases the chances of getting a Final Fantasy VII remake for DS, or, at least, I like to think so
