Nintendo DS: Paperweight?
Remember in the old days, before the PSP had any software worth playing, how often we heard the refrain that the DS was getting loads of play time, while PSPs everywhere were “sitting in the corner, gathering dust”? Well today, dear readers, the unthinkable has happened: My DS has gone an entire week without being moved from its lonely position on my side table. Now, it is true that I was out of town for 3 of those days, but the fact that I took my PSP on the flight instead of my DS makes this all the more troubling. The truth is that there are a lot of complex, high-quality games available for the PSP at the moment that seem to be holding my attention longer than the casual style games on my DS.
What is the source of this DS neglect, you might ask? Well the truth is that once I played through Final Fantasy III, I just haven’t been interested in anything available on the shelves. And don’t think it is for lack of trying — I have been cruising my local Gamestop religiously, hoping for that rare under-appreciated title to leap out and catch my eye, but the moment just never came. I looked dejectedly at Animal Crossing, not sure if I could handle a game with no actual purpose, especially since I am still working my way through Harvest Moon for the PSP. Now, I know a lot of you are big fans of Elite Beat Agents, but for the musically-impaired like me, these games have a tendency to become more like cruel jokes, particularly at the higher difficulty settings.
With none of the current DS titles catching my interest, and with loads of compelling games piling up on PSP, it looks like this state of affairs will continue for awhile (or at least until the new Zelda comes out). I am open to any ideas on how to save my DS from this sad condition, so be sure to register your thoughts below (and no, “get a life you sony fanboy” does not count as a valid suggestion).

Take it from someone who is pretty much the worst DDR player ever, EBA is a great game that is incredibly intuitive, I played it for about 3 minutes on my friends DS and immediately bought it. Don’t let your lack of beat deter you from it.
Also, if you haven’t played Mario and Luigi Partners in Time, you are definately missing out, that is a great, albeit forgotten game

Just get Phoenix Wright! If you don’t mind reading, PW is a great game. Like puzzles? Get Meteos; fun and addictive to the max. Multiplayer variety mayhem? Clubhouse Games without a doubt.
There are a lot of great games; you just gotta know what you’re in the mood for at the moment.

I tend to find that I go through phases with both of my handheld devices. About 12 months ago, I couldnt stop playing my DS and my psp got no love, then around christmas time I just randomly picked up my psp to play something and since then Ive been unable to stop playing so up untill recently i hadn’t played my DS for 3-4 months, not because i didnt have games I wanted to play on it (Lunar knights, phoenix wright2, hotel dusk), i was just in a “psp” mode (R and C Size matters, MGPO, Lego Starwars, and the genius that is puzzle quest). I think both machines are excellent and anyone who thinks that the psp doesnt have great games is a non-gamer and i believe that the DS is a great platform for adventure games and innovative gameplay. Bottom line - Im totally happy with both. Tho nintendo makes my blood boil sometimes the way that it takes ages for any software to get to us here in uk (paper mario anyone? hasnt even got a releasae date!!!)

Good thing you posted this the day before Pokemon D/P came out.

Is your site that desperate for hits that you need to post something as silly as this for attention?
Or maybe you confused the letters DS with PSP…

“Try Phoenix Wright or Hotel Dusk. Should keep you stimulated.”
I hated both of those games, and I am a Nintendo fan.

Good points. Most of the PSP naysayers are just Ninty fanboys.
