Capcom Exec Drops Hints About Monster Hunter Freedom 2

February 21st, 2007 by Kris

Infrastructure Mode NOT Included in North America?

img03.jpg

Left out in the cold?

Well we have good news and bad news, as the saying goes. If he is to be believed, and we are hoping he is not, user sven over in the offical Capcom message boards has some sad news for Monster Hunter fans in North America and Europe:

“MH Portable 2nd, uses ad-hoc for multiplayer again (unfortunately, not infrastructure). I assure you, we (the US and European offices) pushed very hard for infrastructure based multiplayer but the team did not have time to implement such a feature.”

That’s right folks, apparently infrastructure mode will remain a Japan-only feature for the Monster Hunter Portable sequel. The good news from all of this is that at least sven confirmed (in a roundabout sort fo way) that MHP2 is indeed coming to the West “within four to six months” although this is something we knew already.

As video game journalists, we are generally skeptical of the insane ramblings of random voices from the Internet, but sven’s comment has us worried. The fact that he refers to himself as “The official I wish I could tell you more, but then I’d have to kill you (TM) guy” lends added credibility to his story.

Frankly, we think that infrastructure mode is a necessity and worth waiting for, especially since it was so sorely missed in the first game and since the Ps2 version never made it to Western shores. If you feel the way we do, make your voice heard below, and we will do our best to make sure that your comments are heard by someone at Capcom.

Peace, love and solidarity,

The PVG Staff

“the team did not have time to impliment such a feature.” or don’t want to spend the time?

    Gamer Says:

I’m willing to wait an additional 6 months if they could add infrastructure. my god, how can developers even THINK of skipping out on this? They would double their sales with an online ability.

you’ve got to be kidding!! Didn’t these guys learn from past mistakes?!! Didn’t have time.. Didn’t have time??!!! that’s pure B.S.
What i’m seeing is a complete disregard for the U.S. and European markets.

I was going to purchase this game with the hopes that it would have infrastructure. I imagined how slaying prehistoric monsters with the help of some online buddies would be so much fun. But now.. they can forget it!!

This is ridiculous…..how can they not include ifnrastructure? that’s retarded!! the first game would ahve sold a lot more if it had online play, now they do this again?

WhY? no time to get it readyz? yeah right….all they have to do is translate the infrastructure GUI from japanes to english

    Joe Says:

Come on Capcom I know lots of people would buy this game if it has infrastructure and if not this game is not going to sell well at all.

So instead of rushing this game out to the market why not wait a little longer then this game would sell lots.

So please Capcom bring out the game with infrastructure. Plus also add the ability to download extra levels and weapons just like the Japan version.

    Chaos Says:

I’d have to say it’s a step up from MHF (imported jp version), It’s got a ton new monsters, a day night cycle, the gunlance, the horn (like a huge ocarine, can play buffs for yourself), the taichi blade (like a katana but alot faster than greatsword) and the bow (like a bowgun)

Well, if i cant use infra on the english port, then it’s back to Xlink kai for me ^_^.

btw, xlink tricks your psp into thinking it’s in adhock with other users over the internet. Thus it’s lik infrastructure, only more fiddely

Please CAPCOM, I’m a big fan of the series and I want you guys to take us more seriously. I heard that MH3 for PS3 is going to be a Japan Exclusive… This is an insult just like it was MH2 for PS2. I don’t care how you do it, but please release them ALL in the USA.
    Thanks.-

    Blut Says:

That is a definite buzz-kill. I doubt I’ll even buy the game unless it had the infrastructure. *Tsk*Tsk*

    LOST Says:

Please Capcom. You are making it to where you are missing out on an opportunity to recieve actual great US sales of this game but you are passing up the chance.Do the right thing and add Infrastructure.

    madman2k3 Says:

if you’re not giving mhf2 the freedom it implies in the title, then you should push even harder to bring mhdos west.

what i meant by that, is that it may be portable and you can roam with it, but it doesn’t give the whole monster hunter feel. the game strives off of team work, and how can you do that if there isn’t anyone around to play with?

    3rendan Says:

hey, at least its coming to North America man. They werent going to bring it here in the first place. I consider ourselves lucky, even though capcom will loose huge amounts of profit from the infrastructure. but all my friends play monster hunter so i am not worried. :]

  13. 13
    Rob Says:

If we aren’t getting MH2 the least you can do is give us some online play.

    PSP Fan Says:

WHY CAPCOM! ! ! WHY ! ! ! Man… Monster Hunter 3 BETTER have infrastructure mode! ! ! ! i Been waiting this long and still no online. don’t you hate it when you only have 3 players and need a fourth player. It help having that 4th person helping you fight a hard as monster. CAPCOM Im a really big fan of MH and im willing to wait for that INFRASTRUCTURE, but for now playing with my two cousin with MH will do. GO CAPCOM and think about us fan and what we want and you guys/females will be around for a really LONG TIME.

    Mike Says:

There are other ways to play online with other people. But that requires you to be at a computer. Let’s face it, it’s not very portable when you have to have a laptop with you to play monster hunter freedom on the PSP when you’re not at home.

Monster Hunter Freedom 2 is one of the few games for the PSP that I’ll be willing to shell money for. Please, Capcom, please, don’t screw it up.

    Ryan Says:

WTF is wrong with you i mean why not let us have downloadable content i mean wouldnt it take more work to remove it from the english version if you are translating it from the japanese version what would be the problem you know this is why monster hunter sales are so low down here you guys arnt stressing the online as much here as you do in japan

  17. 17
    John Says:

ya that dude is right what would be so bad about including online in monster hunter 2 we want online

  18. 18
    Ryan Says:

    include online we want online

    sHiBaN Says:

The community is crapping their pants for MH2. I wonder if Capcom is going to dissapoint us again with MH3.

    Shaun Says:

That is unbelieveable, i bought this game assuming it would hae infrastructure, im only finding out now that it doesn’t, thats how sure i was that it would have infrastructure. Maybe if enough people tell them how stupid this is theyll develop an infrastructure mode obtainable through the downloadable content system…..i certainly hope they do

luckly i got my game from china hahahahaha

    Shawn Says:

I also bought the game awhile ago assuming that it had infrastructure. A game like this should’ve had Infrastructure simple common sense, man. Although I love the game I think it would’ve been fun to play with people online since my friends are lazy to play.
